Flat Roofing Advice & Free Tools, Backed by 33+ Years of Real-World Experience
I’m Peter Coscolin. I’ve spent more than 33 years working with flat and low-slope roofing systems and now bring that experience to commercial roofing across British Columbia.
I created Flat Roofing Insights to share practical, straightforward information based on real roofing experience, from installation and repairs to inspections, maintenance and investigating why roofing systems fail.
Whether you’re a property owner, building manager or simply trying to understand your flat roof, you’ll find practical information on SBS, EPDM, TPO, PVC and other flat roofing systems, along with real examples of roof problems I’ve encountered in the field.
Commercial Flat Roof Assessments Now Available in BC
If you own or manage a commercial property in Metro Vancouver, the Fraser Valley or Sea-to-Sky, you can now book a practical flat roof assessment through Flat Roofing Insights.
I’ll personally attend the property and look at the overall condition of the roof, including the membrane, flashings, penetrations, drains, previous repairs and any visible deficiencies.
Assessments start from $349 per property.
More Than Just a Look Around the Roof
The idea behind the assessment is simple. I want you to come away knowing what condition your roof is actually in, what needs attention now, and what can reasonably be planned for later.
As part of the assessment, I’ll clear debris from around the roof drains and carry out minor preventative maintenance and small deficiencies where they can reasonably and safely be completed during the visit, at no additional charge.
You’ll also receive:
- A written roof assessment report
- Photographs of the roof and any deficiencies found
- Clear explanations of what I’ve identified
- Recommendations for any further maintenance or repairs
- Costs for recommended repair work where required
If the roof is in good condition and doesn’t need significant work, I’ll tell you that too. The purpose is to give you useful information about the roof, not simply create a list of work that doesn’t need doing.
Your $349 Assessment Can Be Credited Back
If further work is recommended and you decide to proceed with qualifying repair or maintenance work, the $349 assessment fee can be credited toward the approved work.

About Flat Roofing Insights
Flat Roofing Insights was founded by me, Peter Coscolin, after more than 33 years working with flat and low-slope roofing systems.
I created the site to share practical roofing knowledge based on what I have actually seen and learned in the field. That includes installing roofing systems, carrying out inspections, investigating leaks and failures, planning maintenance, and helping property owners and building managers understand what is happening on their roofs.
Why I Created Flat Roofing Insights
There is a lot of roofing information online, but knowing how a roofing system should work and seeing how it actually performs over time can be very different.
My aim with Flat Roofing Insights is to explain flat roofing in straightforward terms, using real experience, photographs, roof inspections and examples from the field wherever possible.
The site is independently produced and is not sponsored by a roofing manufacturer. The opinions and information I share are based on my own experience and observations.
My Work in British Columbia
I currently work professionally with Raven Roofing in British Columbia, helping commercial property owners and building managers with flat roof inspections, maintenance, repairs and roofing projects.
Where commercial roofing services are requested through Flat Roofing Insights in British Columbia, the field work is provided through Raven Roofing.
Flat Roofing Insights remains the place where I share my own roofing knowledge, practical guides, tools and real-world observations to help people better understand their roofs and make informed decisions.
